Driven home by police after midnight, the teenager, who also has scoliosis, made the comment which resulted in her subsequent arrest for a ‘homophobic public order offence’ in the early hours of the following Monday. Captioning the video, the mother stated, “This is what police do when dealing with autistic children. My daughter told me the police officer looked like her nana, who is a lesbian.” She detailed how the officer interpreted the statement as homophobic, prompting the forceful response that the video documents.
